# 1 Samuel 28:15 and Talking to the Dead

- Was Saul talking to Samuel in 1 Samuel 28?
- How can you reconcile 1 Samuel 28:15 and Ecclesiastes 9:6

> 1 Samuel 28:11 — Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, **Bring me up Samuel**.

> 1Sa 28:15 — **And Samuel said to Saul**, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

> Ecclesiastes 9:4-6 — For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they shall die: but **the dead know not any thing**, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; **neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun**.
