Psalms 43:1

1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

2 For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Context of Psalm 43

Psalm 43 seems to be an appendix to Psalm 42.
Psalm 42:3 They continually say unto me, “Where is thy God?”
Psalm 42:10 They Say unto me “Daily” “Where is thy God?

Psalm 43 is a prayer of faith not just for help, but for JUSTICE, for LIGHT and TRUTH. It is a prayer that his current circumstances would resolve with him:

Vindicated by God, Received of God, Led by God, and Spiritually healthy.

Verse 1 - I Will Make My Appeal to God

1. Jude me O God

“Don’t Judge” (“Don’t Play Judge”; “Don’t Pull Fake Rank.”)
The Psalmist is “making his appeal to God”.
JUDGE:: to vindicate or punish; “rule” my cause
Have you prayed about it?

2. Plead my cause against an ungodly nation

A “suit’ ; a legal contest

3. O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

God’s Judgements is Unlike mans.

Ps 89:14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

Ps 101:1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.

Isa 30:18 ¶ And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

WAIT FOR GOD’S RULING, BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR MOVE.

Verse 2 - I Will not Accept what God has not Ordained

Questions:

Psalm 43:2 why dost thou cast me off?
Psalm 43:2 why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
Palms 42:2 when shall I come and appear before God?
Ps 42:9 Why hast thou forgotten me?
Psalm 42:9 why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
“Cast off” push aside reject

This is not how it should be. This is not how it will be. This is going to change!

RELY ON GOD’S PROMISES TO DEFINE WHAT IS NORMAL.

Verse 3 & 4 - I Will Look for the Light

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

The Psalmist is prevented from “freely worshiping” God. He cannot find “THAT PLACE” he longs for.

42:1 panting like a deer for water brooks, after God.
42:2,3 To trade in the tears for a refreshing God’s presence.
42:4 ONCE LEAD OTHERS TO SERVE YOU .. now filled with tears … had gone with the multitude,... to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

“O Send Out..”

As if the LIGHT and TRUTH of God were imprisoned in some way!
In Genesis 3, God “sent Adam forth” from the Garden
In Genesis 8, Noah “sent forth” a raven and then a dove.
IN Exodus 9:1, God gave Moses a message from Pharoah “Let my people go”

“Thy Light and Thy Truth: let them lead me”

Unto thy Holy Hill, to thy tabernacles (True Worship, God’s Presence)
Holy Hill, Tabernacle, Harp, Singing

Verse 4

Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

LET GOD DO THE DIRECTING OF YOUR HEART.

Verse 5 - I Will Keep Praying

In verse 5, The Psalmist is again praying the same words as in 42:5 and 42:11.

Ps 42:5 …for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

Ps 42:11 … for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Ps 43:5 … for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

43:2 and 42:9 are the same

Is it ok to pray the same prayer?
