SOS 8:1 The Bride's Deepest Desire

Song of Solomon 8:1—O that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! when I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yea, I should not be despised.
Introduction
There is a progression in the life of the Bride; here she shows that she has a great interest in the Spiritual Bridegroom. We now hear that she has reached the climax of her desire. (longing, hunger, thirst, yearning, craving, and a deep desire.
We know for many people, religion is a form and Christianity is just a name.
Many Christians have a different attitude toward the Word, Toward the Church, Toward Christ and toward others.
The little Bride is not attached to anything physical, natural or material.
She is not attached to form, rituals, a building, just shepherds, sheep and herds only.
Song 8:1—“O that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! when I should find thee without”
She wants to know Him in a close relationship “as my brother” like her brother that has grown up from many experiences, but a more intimate relationship, closer than a brother Song 4:9,10,12; 5:1-2 “my sister”

I. To Know Him Better
She doesn’t want just what He can give her but she wants Him.
- A More Intimate Relationship
- Closer than a brother or sister relationship.
- The Strongest desire, Craving, longing for a greater relationship.
“Close to Thee, Close to Thee all along life’s pilgrim journey Saviour let me walk with You.”
The little Bride recognized a close family relationship. “As My Brother”
She wanted to find that realm where nothing will break, damage, hurt, separate nor destroy that relationship.
She knows Him in certain aspects but not like she wants to

To know Him it must come by revelation.
II. To Make Him Known.
- She lets him know that she loves Him.
- “I would kiss thee”
- This an expression of an inward desire to be with Him
- She is totally taken up with Him.
- Whenever and wherever He reveals Himself to her she wants to embrace Him and the truth.
- “I would kiss thee”
“when I should find thee”
- She lets the Church know that she loves Him.
- “I should not be despised”
- She lets the world know that she loves Him.
- “Without” (in the open streets)
- In the streets without suspicion.
- Without offence.
- In the tenderest loving way.
- “Without” (in the open streets)
“when I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yea, I should not be despised.”
III. To make known her position
- The meaning of despised
- disrespect:--contemn; Put down, mocked
- The attitude of some (I might be despised)
- The attitude of the Bride --- Invincible Desire
- “I should (I will [not]-I shall)not be despised”
To function within the Body as the True Church should unto the total death of self.
