The First Day

Introduction - The Newness of Day One - This Day!

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

"The First Day" God Called the Light Day and the darkness He Called Night

Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

"The First Day of the Month" Noah removed the covering of the ark and the ground was dray.

Genesis 8:13 ¶ And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first [month], the first [day] of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

"The First Day of the Month" Tabernacle Set Up

Ex 40:17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first [day] of the month, [that] the tabernacle was reared up.

First Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread (first and seventh)

Ex 12:15,16 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.16 And in the first day [there shall be] an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save [that] which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

The First Day of the Feast of Tabernacles

Leviticus 23:40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.

First Day of the Fifth Month - Aaron Dies

Nu 33:38 And Aaron the priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the LORD, and died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first [day] of the fifth month.

The First, Second and Third Day of Battle (Judges 19,20; After a Tragedy caused by The Men of Gibeah)

  • Men of Gibeah abused and murdered the Levite's concubine (Judges 19)
  • The heads of the eleven tribes come before the Lord in Mizpeh, and examine the Levite relative to the murder of his wife 1-7.

Jg 20:18 ¶ And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first. <Surely there cause was just and numbers superior!>

  • DAY TWO

Jg 20:22,23 And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day. 23 (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.) <ADAM CLARKE: "They trusted in the goodness of their cause and in the multitude of their army. God humbled them, ">

  • DAY THREE

Jg 20:26,27,28 ¶ Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. 27 And the children of Israel enquired of the LORD, (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.

"First day of the first month" Ezra and his troop Return from Babylon (70 Years Captivity, 4 months journey)

Ezr 7:9 For upon the first [day] of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

"First Day of the Seventh Month" Ezra Read the Law of God

Ne 8:2,18 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month. 18 Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day [was] a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

"First day" Ezekiel Heard alot from God on this Day!

Ezekiel 26:1; 29:17; 31:1; 45:18

Eze 26:1 ¶ And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first [day] of the month, [that] the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

"The First Day" of Prayer, Daniel was Heard

Daniel 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

The First Day of Unleavened Bread - Jesus and his Disciples Prepared for Passover

Mt 26:17-20 ¶ Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? 18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples. 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover. 20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

The First Day of the Week and Worship

Mt 28:1 ¶ In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. Mr 16:9 ¶ Now when [Jesus] was risen early the first [day] of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. Ac 20:7 ¶ And upon the first [day] of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. 1Co 16:2 Upon the first [day] of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as [God] hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. Php 1:5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
