A WORK OF GOD

“Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder

marvelously: for I will work a work in your days, which  ye will not believe, though it be told you.”

–  Habakkuk 1:5

This was to be a work of judgment upon Israel.

God promised to work a work in that day.  God has promised to work a work in our day.

I.        NOT A WORK OF MAN

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” – Zech. 4:6

        A.        Man can not work as God works.

                1.        Man can not produce what God alone

                        can do.

                2.        Talents of man can not change lives.

                3.        Flesh can not produce revival.

        B.        God’s ways are far above the ways of man.

                1.        He is high and lifted up. – Is. 6:1

                2.        Nothing is impossible with God.

                3.        God does not need the help of man.

        C.        Man must work with God.

                1.        Move when God moves. – Ex. 13:21

                2.        Led by the Holy Spirit. – Rom. 8:14

                3.        Do the work of God.

“ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

– John 9:4.

II.        GOD’S WORK IS MIGHTY

“Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:” – Jer. 32:19

        A.        Mighty in power.

                1.        The worlds framed by The Word of

                        God. – Heb. 11:3

                2.        To draw the souls of men. – Acts 2:41

(3000 souls saved at one time)

                3.        Over all the works of hell. –

                        Eph. 1: 21-22, Phil 2:10

        B.        The works of the LORD great. – Ps. 92:5,

                Ps. 111:2

                1.        The Great God Jehovah. (LORD)

                2.        Jehovah – from the verb to be, the                                 covenant keeping name of God.

                3.        HE IS THE GREAT I AM.

        C.        Mighty in the lives of men.

                1.        Salvation is a work of God. – Eph.2:8,

                        Rom. 1:16

                2.        He is the potter. – Rom. Rom. 9:21

                3.        We must allow God to work in our

                        lives.

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” – Phil. 2:13

III.        GOD WILL WORK IN THESE LAST DAYS

        A.        God works at specific times.

                1.        Deliverance of Israel from bondage. –

                               Gen. 15:13

                2.        Return from Babylonian captivity. –

                        Daniel 9:2, Jeremiah 25:11-12

                3.        The birth of Christ. – Gal. 4:4

                4.        The day of  Pentecost. – Acts 2:1

        B.         A last day inheritance.

“To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” –  I Peter 1: 4-5

                1.        Reserved – held in store.

                2.        Ready to be revealed in the last time.

                3.        For those who are kept by God’s                                 power.

We need the keeping power of God in this world of sin.  When the saints enter through Heaven’s gates they will no longer need the keeping power of God.

This inheritance has been reserved for an appointed time.

God will manifest His power in these last days.

        C.        The greatest rain is yet to come.

                1.        The rain is a symbol of the outpouring

                        of the Holy Ghost.

                2.        God sent the rain at the right time.

                3.        The greatest rain came right before

                        the final harvest.
