BREAD IN THE WILDERNESS

Mark 8:1-9 “From whence can a man satisfy these men with BREAD

here IN THE WILDERNESS?

God can meet your need in the wilderness experience.  There is hope in a seemingly hopeless situation.  Man’s problems are God’s opportunity.

I. THE WILDERNESS APPEARS EMPTY

** **Ex. 16:1-15

A.	A desolate place

	1.	A Lonely place

	2.	Barren and dry

B.	No visible source of food

	1.	The disciples saw no way to feed the multitude

	2.	The Israelites saw no food in the wilderness

	3.	No food in the widow’s house

C.	No natural means of survival

	1.	Israel against the Red Sea

	2.	The battles of Israel

	3.	The three Hebrew children

	4.	Daniel in the lions den

D.	God’s opportunity to come on the seen

	1.	When men run out of options

	2.	Men on their back will look up

II. THE WILDERNESS IS A PLACE OF TESTING

A.	God allows us to go through the wilderness

	1.	To strengthen us 

	2.	To prepare us for the work ahead

		a.	Moses on the backside of the desert

		b.	David tending sheep

		c.	John the Baptist was in the wilderness

	3.	The trying of our faith worketh patience James 1:2-4

B.	God will test His servants

	1.	Abraham was put to the ultimate test

	2.	Daniel was tested with the King’s meat

	3.	Peter was tested by the maid

C.	More precious than gold

	“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of 			gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found 			unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus 			Christ:”  (1Pe 1:7)

D.	Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted – Mt.4:1

	1.	Tempted in all points without sin

	2.	The Holy Spirit will lead you to the place

		of testing

III. THE WILDERNESS IS A PLACE OF DIVINE INTERVENTION

** **A. Jesus multiplied the loaves of bread

	1.	There is bread in the wilderness

	2.	Little becomes much in The Master’s hands

B.	Manna supplied in the wilderness

	1.	Hidden manna to the overcomer

	2.	Fell upon the Dew

	3.	Gather enough for the whole day

C.	God will meet you in the wilderness

	“And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole 				congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward 			the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in 			the cloud.”  (Exo 16:10)

D.	Jesus is the Bread of Life – Jn. 8:58	

	1.	In Him is Life

	2.	He came to give Life – Jn. 10:10

	3.	The Law of The Spirit is Life – Rom. 8:2

E.	God will not leave you in the wilderness

	1.	He will never leave us

	2.	He will lead us through
