FOLLOWING GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE

FOLLOWING GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE

“THE ABSOLUTE NECESSITY OF FOLLOWING THE WILL OF GOD FOR YOUR LIFE”

I. GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE

A. God had a plan for the disciples.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” – Mt. 4:19

1. They had to follow Jesus.

2. Jesus made them what they were not.

B. Each one has a particular calling.

“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:” – II Pet. 1:10

1. Don’t lay aside the call of God.

2. Be sure of what  God has called you to do.

C. You are important to God.

1. Let no man despise thy youth.

2. God uses ordinary people.

II. IT IS ESSNTIAL TO KNOW GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE

A. The disciples were taught by Jesus.

1. They sat under His ministry for 3 ½ years.

2. They watched the example of Christ.

B. Training is a good place to start

1. All can benefit from a Christian education.

2. All can benefit from Bible School training.

3. All can benefit from a good Sunday School program.

4. The disciples had to go through a training period.

5. Elijah went through a training period.

C. God will unfold His plan to you.

1. The disciples did not fully receive God’s plan all at once.

2. God will lead you one step at a time.

3. You need to be able to hear God’s voice.

III. FOLLOW GOD’S PLAN

A. The disciples eventually followed God’s plan.

1. They tarried until they were endued with Holy Ghost power.

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

-Acts 1:8

2. They became fishers of men.

B. You can not follow your will.

1. The will of God can be difficult.

“Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” -Luke 22:42

2. The will of man does not produce results.

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.”-John 5:30

C. There is peace in the center of God’s will.

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” – Col. 3:15

 D. It is dangerous to get out of God’s will

1. Getting out of  God’s will bring you to destruction.

2. You will suffer outside of God’s will.

John Bunyan illustrated the importance of staying in God’s will in Pilgrim’s Progress.

Christian left the straight path for an easier way.  He ended up a prisoner in Doubting Castle.  Christian found that the lions could do him no harm on the Kings way, for they were chained.
