Title: Newness of Life

Text: Romans 6:4

Romans 6:4—_Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life._
  1. New Life

Life we never had before, we never knew what it was to have this life before. We were dead before conversion, having no life in us.

Ephesians 2:1—And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Colossians 2:13—_And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;_

Everything that was recorded against us was TAKEN AWAY.

Titus 3:5—_Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;_

We are alive because of His mercy.

2Co 5:17—_Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new._

I Peter 1:23—_Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever._

How were we brought from death o life? Into this new Life? By the Word of God!

Eternal Life is a gift. It is not something that you earn. A gift must be received. IT is not something that you earn. God gives to u ertnal life as a gift.

Rom 6::23—_For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord._

Ephesians 2:8— _For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:_
  1. NEW PRINCIPLES
  • Moved by gratitude. Not by fear, anxiety. And a faith that works by love.

Romans 6:17—But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Galatians 5:6—For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Ephesians 5:2—And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Galatians 2:20—I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I John 4:19_—We love him, because he first loved us._

  1. New Motives

We live to please God. In sin, we live to please self and watched out or ‘number one.’

  1. The aim of the true believer should be to please God.

God knows all about us.

1Th 2:4—_But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts._

B. The duty of the true believer is to please God.

I Thess. 4:1—_Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more._
  1. New Hope

    Heb 6:19—Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

  2. New Possessions

Romans 8:32—He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

  3. PEACE LIKE A RIVER

Isaiah 48:13—Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

  4. JOY

Psalm 16:11—Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

  5. A WELL THAT NEVER RUNS DRY

Isaiah 12:3—Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

John 4:14—But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 7:38_—He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water._

  6. BREAD THE WORLD KNOWS NOTHING OF

    s—I have bread

P—The natural mind receiveth not the things of God

“eat of this bread, he will live forever.”

That is why as a Believer you can read this book, again and again, and again.
