Jewish Messiah

A sermon outline of Rev. James R. Reynolds, Sr.

THEME: According to the Scriptures Jesus is the Messiah; the Son of God manifested in the flesh.

Proverbs 18:13 — He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

2. God is One —

When Scripture says "one" it is speaking of a compound unity. It cannot be anything less.

Genesis 1:1 — In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

"God" Elohiym (a plural noun) Gods

"Create" Bara (a singular verb)

Genesis 1:26 "And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness…" (The Chumash)

Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: Hashem is our God, Hashem is the One and Only." (The Chumash)

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD." (KJV)

"LORD" Yehovah self-existent - eternal

"God" Elohiym (a plural noun)

"Yehovah" is God's covenant name.

God is one, but Three in One — God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Daniel 7:13-14 "I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 5. The Birth of the Messiah

    The Time of His Birth

Ezra 1:1-2 "Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and He hath charged me to build Him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah."
