TEXT: Luke 19:1-10, v.5
Lu 19:1 ¶ And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. 4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.** 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.** 6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. 9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
INTRODUCTION
- Our success in God depends so much on our approach to Him. We are on a journey of FAITH.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
- Faith takes root in the HEART and not in the head .
Ro 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
God and his ways are greatly mysterious to the carnal mind.

Man concerned about the dinosaurs, the bible needs to rewritten and updated. There are many good reasons to serve God, but a lasting and genuine relationship with God MUST begin as a HEART issue.
- We CAN find God by searching, but success depends on how and where you look. There are permanent obstructions to your spiritual life, unless removed, you CANNOT find God and never will.
Zacheaus was permanently prevented from knowing Christ. It was impossible for Zacheaus to know Christ!
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
1. Jericho
Jericho his moon; his month; fragrant
Jericho is the lowest permanently inhabited site on earth. (846 feet below sea level.) It is also believed to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. You cannot get any more earthly minded!

Self-righteous, DISTANT, You have got to get close!

Christ must be brought to your house
Lu 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
Lu 19:6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
