Come

“COME” Psalm 65:1-5

Ps 65:1 ¶ <<To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David.>> Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. 2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. 3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away. 4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. 5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:

  1. GOD STANDS IN A MAJESTICLY HIGH & HOLY PLACE
  • “Praise waiteth for thee O God, …

HE ALONE IS WORTHY, otherwise praise is SILENT unless TOWARD God!

  • in Sion…”

Zion is the name of a Mountain of Jerusalem (Mt. Hermon’s snow covered peak) & refers to Jerusalem itself, but both are merely shadows of the “CITY OF GOD.” The place where God rules in peace with his people. (Rev. 21 “NEW JERUSALEM”)

Isaiah 6:3—And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Ps 99:2—The LORD is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

De 4:39—Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

De 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

  1. GOD SAYS “COME”
  • The righteous and holy God of heaven has never lessened his standard in order to include humanity in His plan. God has and will never LOWER Himself. He CALLS us to COME to Him!

  • & THIS IS A HIGH & HOLY CALLING

  • “**Blessed…Causest to approach unto thee” **TO CAUSE TO COME

Psalm 65:2—O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

v.4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

  1. A call to righteousness       No longer hiding

Isaiah. 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Ge 17:1 ¶ And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

2Sa 22:33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

Heb 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

1Pe 5:10 ¶ But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

    Tit 2:11 ¶ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

HOW TO COME TO GOD There is a Process to Coming

--Line upon line, here a little, there a little, step by step

--prayer upon prayer, service upon service, reading God’s Word

Isa 28:9 ¶ Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. 13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

COME & KEEP COMING
  1. A call to service for God

The disciples “Come Follow Me” – Take up Cross, Willing to Deny Father & Mother NOT WORTHY OF ME

  1. **A call to refuge from the enemy
**Ge 7:1 ¶ And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

Ge 7:7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

  2. A call. To satisfaction (can't draw water from a dry well)
           Wells--graces of god promises
River of god is full of life

    Adam & Eve found a Covering

Woman with the Issue of Blood found healing

Jesus Spoke one Word to Sinking Peter “COME”

 Mt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Mt 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
