Psalm 119:105 — NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

A. Acrostic

  • Verse 105 is the best known verse of Psalm 119;

  • Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, consisting of 176 verses. It is an acrostic (1 of 9or14) with each section containing eight verses that begin with the same Hebrew letter.

  • NAVIGATION: 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

  • NECESSITY 106 I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments.

  • NOURISHMENT: 107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.

B. THEME: The relationship between the believer and the divine law

I. The Bent & Straight "Noon"

  • NUN: The Hebrew letter Nun (נ) is the fourteenth letter of the aleph-bet. It is pronounced as "noon" and represents the sound /n/ in various languages.
  • The letter has two forms: the bent Nun (נְ) in the middle of a word and the straight Nun (נָ), which is used at the end of a word.
  • Ps 10:12 ¶ Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.

Leviticus 23:15,16 — And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: 16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

1. ---> Law (TORAH) (v. 109)

God's LAW is a HIS Will. It is temporal window into the INFINITE 'soul' of God. His LAW is not matters of technicality, but of HIS HEART.

  • God's Law is not "COLD", "OUTDATED", "NOT RELEVANT", "WITHOUT CLEAR PURPOSE" --- HIS HEART IS REVEALED

Deuteronomy 6:4,5 — Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
